Dear Iowa Utilities Board,

Within the coming years, carbon capture and storage will be critical for the ethanol industry’s continued success. The market is shifting toward sustainable fuel, and projects like Summit Carbon Solutions’ will ensure that ethanol plants remain profitable. Little Sioux Corn Processors here in Marcus is an important pillar of our community and we support their decision to partner with Summit Carbon Solutions.

The board has decided to schedule Summit’s hearing to October of this year. That late of a timeline will unnecessarily inhibit farmers’ ability to attend the meetings. No matter the opinion on the project, it is a fact that this project impacts farmers the most. Whether they are for or against the project, scheduling the hearing for July or August will enable all farmers to voice their opinions more easily on the project.

Please move the hearings to earlier in the year, preferably July or August.
