Dear Iowa Utilities Board members Huser, Lozier, and Byrnes:

As the board of directors at Siouxland Energy in Sioux Center, Iowa, we are writing today to express our support for Summit Carbon Solutions’ carbon sequestration project. Our board strives to make decisions that serve the best interests of the cooperative along with our business and farming partners. This goal includes solidifying the economic feasibility of the plant as our country moves to diversify energy resources.

By partnering with Summit Carbon Solutions to lower our carbon intensity score, our plant will continue operating successfully for many years to come. By ensuring our respective place: in the market, we are also securing demand for Iowa-grown corn long-term.

Siouxland Energy has provided local farmers with a competitive corn market for over 15 years and has been a significant contributor to the success of our local economy. Our plant and so many others must have the opportunity to partner with Summit Carbon Solutions. Otherwise, ethanol will face an upward battle over the next few years.

The Siouxland Energy board urges the Iowa Utilities Board to support ethanol and agriculture by granting Summit Carbon Solutions a permit.

Sincerely,

Siouxland Energy Cooperative Board of Directors
