Dear Iowa Utilities Board Members,

Investing resources in carbon capture has the potential to create new opportunities for businesses and industries across a range of sectors. By supporting these initiatives, we can drive innovation, create jobs, and strengthen our economy while also reducing our impact on climate issues.

In addition, the project will require skilled workers and other professionals to build and maintain the pipeline, which can create opportunities for employment in and around our community. Furthermore, the pipeline can enable the development of new industries and business ventures that rely on carbon capture and storage, which can bring additional economic benefits to our region.

As the need for carbon-neutral fuel increases, it is essential that we give our ethanol producers an opportunity to increase their competition and reach emerging markets. Summit has secured over 75% of the route in Cherokee County through voluntary easements agreements, which highlights the local support for Summit’s project in Cherokee County.

As the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, we have a unique opportunity to support our chamber members, Summit Carbon Solutions partnered with Little Sioux Corn Processors, and their initiative to support the agricultural industries through safe and innovative technology. By advocating for initiatives like carbon capture and ethanol, we can help to create a brighter future for our businesses, our communities, and our environment.

Sincerely,
Tim Hoffman                                          Melinda Brown
