Letter: We need more economic activity in rural communities

This December, I graduated college into an uncertain world. Jobs are available, but mostly in cities and other states. I worry about the future of my hometown and small communities across the Midwest.
Going to school in Fargo, it’s clear how quickly even small cities can get overlooked compared to the areas on the coasts. We must watch out for ourselves. The problem is even worse in our rural towns. We need more economic activity in the heartland of America for young people and families to get their start.
