Dear Iowa Utilities Board members,

Many farmers like me have watched Summit Carbon Solutions work tirelessly for the last year and a half to develop meaningful relationships with landowners and secure voluntary easements. Now, the company sits at nearly two-thirds of the route acquired and continues this momentum daily.

As a farmer and affected landowner in O’Brien County, I am confident that projects like Summit Carbon Solutions’ will revolutionize agriculture and the ethanol industry. I ask you to please consider moving the date you have chosen for Summit’s hearing. An October hearing date in the middle of harvest will make it difficult for the thousands of farmers who will undoubtedly be impacted the most from these projects.

I strongly urge you to move the hearing up to July or August 2023 to allow farmers the chance to attend these very important meetings as well as lessen the impact felt by farmers during the construction phase.

Thank you for your time,
Kelly Nieuwenhuis
