carbon capture project in the upper Midwest over the next several years. The company is a dynamic

SCS has 100+ employees and has offices in Ames, Iowa and Bismarck, North Dakota.


THE OPPORTUNITY
Summit Carbon Solutions is a high-growth company undertaking a highly complex project, which will
ultimately create a first-of-its-kind operating business at the forefront of the carbon removal
movement. The opportunity exists for a financial leader to join a dynamic management team and
ownership group and to lead a high-functioning accounting team, as well as play a central role in
the continued design and implementation of systems, policies, and processes. The new Corporate
Controller will serve as a true partner to the Chief Financial Officer.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”), the Corporate Controller (“Controller”) will be a
key member of the senior finance staff and will lead and oversee all day-to-day accounting and
controlling activities, including financial reporting, and accounting operations. The Controller
will design and implement accounting policies and procedures, create a strong control environment,
and will be responsible for driving productivity, and creating efficient processes, through
automation, standardization, and control enhancements. The Controller is responsible for all
accounting matters, including financial statements and financial reporting, and will also play a
key role in tax, treasury, financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting, insurance, and risk
management.
■ Manage and develop highly talented and experienced team members on the accounting team.
■ Responsible for the quality, reliability, and timeliness of the company’s financial statements
in compliance with US GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements.
■ Oversee accounting policy and all legal entity financial reporting processes. Advise executive
management on appropriate accounting treatment for all aspects of project construction as well as
future operations.
■ Build and maintain business relationships with all SCS teams, communicating important issues,
opportunities, and/or problems that may impact the company.
■ Serve as a key leader in the overall design and implementation of the overall SCS systems
architecture and ensure that SCS systems serve both the project design and construction phase as
well as the future operational requirements.
■ Develop significant understanding of the complex tax issues related to SCS business model and
the accounting complexity created by the IRS requirements regarding 45Q tax credits.
■ Oversee the coordination of work performed by the company’s external auditor and tax advisors
and monitor and resolve issues promptly.
■ Research, interpret and implement new accounting pronouncements.


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have previous experience in an organization with large capital
projects focus. S/he will have the demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple teams and
functions within a fast-paced, growing, changing, performance-driven environment. In addition, the
successful candidate will possess the following:
■ Broad understanding of financial and regulatory requirements, particularly in the relevant
midstream energy/renewables industries. Must be aware of current and possible future policies,
practices, trends, technology, and information affecting the business and organization.
■ Must have experience within the last ten years in US GAAP public company-type audits (PCAOB) and
private company audits (AICPA).
■ Strong knowledge of, and practical experience in, complex system and data integration projects
across finance and accounting activities.
■ Demonstrated track record for managing world-class accounting and finance teams through
motivation and development of exceptional talent. Someone who can assess capability gaps, build
plans for addressing organizational needs, and drive change.
■ Highly skilled manager who effectively leads his/her group by clearly communicating
expectations, following through on deliverables, and providing input and direction to ensure the
accurate and timely development and communication of financial data.
■ Superior accounting, operational, quantitative, and analytical skills, with a propensity to be
“hands on” and detailed oriented.
■ Deep experience with large-scale ERPs such as MS 0365, SAP or Oracle, both implementation and
usage.
■ Strong presence, with maturity, confidence, and experience to interact effectively internally
and externally. Able to present information to influence organizational leaders and key
stakeholders and prioritize interests of the company during decision-making.
■ Strategic thinker and a desire to add value and drive results.
■ Strong, collaborative leadership style.
■ Ability to be nimble and innovative while embracing institutional “best practices.”
■ Big 4 audit background preferred.

EDUCATION
• Undergraduate degree in accounting/finance or equivalent experience required.
• CPA required.
• MS/MBA preferred.


COMPENSATION
Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. It will include a base salary
and an annual performance bonus, and other perquisites.
